Qurbani 2025
Alhamdulillah, we are now in the months of Hajj. These blessed days culminate in the act of Qurbani which commemorates the submission of Ibrahim (AS).
Alhamdulillah, we are now in the months of Hajj and these blessed days culminate in the great act of Qurbani which commemorates the submission of Ibrahim ‘alayhis-salam, whom Allah inspired with offering his son, Isma’il, as a sacrifice to Him.
In response to this profound act of obedience, Allah ransomed Isma’il with a ram which Ibrahim (ʿalayhis-salām) sacrificed instead. And Allah says, ‘And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram).’ [37:107]
In honour of this, Muslims sacrifice animals as an act of worship to Allah. Offering this Qurbani is a Sunnah of our forefather Ibrahim, and our beloved Final Messenger ﷺ. Qurbani is one of the great symbols of Islam. It is an emphasised Sunnah and carries immense reward.
May Allah enable us to worship and remember Him as He deserves, and give us the ability to follow the traditions of His noble religion in the coming days.
